Each calendar day keeps its own log. To catch up or fix yesterday: set the date first, then edit symptoms or notes for that day only. Date-changing gestures are covered in a separate help article.

One log per calendar day

  • Red Tent stores one daily log per calendar day—symptoms, life factors, and journal notes all attach to that date.
  • The date header is the scope—verify it before you save so edits land on the intended day.
  • Past days and today are editable; future days cannot receive new log values.
  • Changing the date on Home, Daily Tracking, or journal updates the shared date context across those screens.
  • The wall-clock time you tap Save does not create a separate log—the calendar day in the header does.

To change the date—weekly strip, Select Date sheet, cycle ring, or Go to Today—see Changing the date.

01
Change date
On Home first—use the weekly strip, date header, or cycle ring (see Changing the date for how each works).
02
Daily check-ins
The Symptoms and Life Factors rows reload for the selected past day—filled cards show what you already logged; empty rows show Add.
03
Add
When nothing is logged yet for a type, tap Add under that type to open Daily Tracking for the header date with the matching pill pre-selected.
04
Add More
When at least one item is logged for a type, tap Add More in that row to open Daily Tracking the same way.
05
Item card
Tap a filled card to open that item in Reports with six cycles of detail—Home does not inline-edit symptoms; use Add or Add More to change values.
06
Edit in Daily Tracking
Toggle yes/no items or open the intensity sheet for scale items; each change saves immediately to the header date. Tap X in the date header to return to Home—the selected past date stays set.

For the Symptoms and Life Factors pills, yes/no and intensity cards, and intensity sheet Save and Cancel, see Tracking symptoms for a day.

01
+
Tap the center + on the tab bar, then Track Symptoms to open Daily Tracking on today's date by default.
02
Change date
Before editing, scroll the weekly strip or tap the date header to open Select Date and pick the past day you want to update.
03
Symptoms
Select the Symptoms pill to edit symptom items for the date shown in the header; switch to Life Factors on the same screen when needed.
04
Immediate save
Each toggle or intensity save writes to that calendar day right away—Daily Tracking has no batch Done button on the editor body.
05
X
Tap the X in the date header to close Daily Tracking; Home keeps the date you selected when you return.

Journal — notes for a past day

01
Path A
Change the date on Home to the past day you want, then tap + and Add Notes—the journal opens for that day.
02
Path B
Tap + and Add Notes first, then tap the date header, open Select Date, and pick the past calendar day.
03
My Journal
The composer and Notes section reload for the selected date. The journal header shows the date row with Save and X but no weekly strip beneath it.
04
New note
Type in the composer and tap Save—multiple notes per day are supported; saved rows appear in Notes newest first.
05
Existing note
Swipe a saved note and tap Edit note to open the edit sheet, or Delete to confirm removal. Editing an existing note uses the sheet's Save and Cancel—not the composer Save.
06
X
Tap X in the journal date header to discard unsaved composer text and dismiss; saved Notes rows are unaffected.

Composer Save vs edit-sheet Save, Reports read-back, and CSV export are covered in Writing daily notes (journal).

When you're done catching up

01
Go to Today
On Home, tap Go to Today in the date header when you have browsed away from the current calendar day.
02
Journal or Daily Tracking
Change the date back via the header Select Date sheet, or dismiss and use Go to Today on Home.
Always confirm the header date before saving—especially when catching up on several days in one session.
🔒Daily logs and journal entries sync with your Apple ID through iCloud when enabled—they are not stored on Red Tent servers. Optional research sharing is separate and revocable in Settings.
