On each symptom or life-factor detail screen in Reports, scroll to Relation Patterns to see which other trackables tend to co-occur with the item you opened—scores come from your logs, not proof one thing caused another. Correlation lives on item detail—not in Custom Analysis.

What Relation Patterns shows

  • Relation Patterns ranks other symptoms and life factors that tend to appear near the item you opened on the detail screen.
  • Related Symptoms and Related Life Factors are separate lists—each shows up to five matches sorted by pattern strength.
  • Each row shows a percentage and bar for pattern strength—the combined score from frequency, statistical correlation, and how often the pair appears versus chance.
  • These are estimates to discuss with a clinician—they do not prove causation, diagnose PMDD, or replace medical advice.

Open an item detail screen from Reports

In the app

Open Red Tent PMDD to see the live screen walkthrough for this step.

Download the app
01
Reports
Tap Reports in the bottom tab bar.
02
Overview
Under the Reports header, select Overview—not Custom Analysis.
03
Cycle range
Pick 1, 3, 6, 12 cycles, or Custom at the top. Correlation on the detail screen uses this same range.
04
Symptom History
Scroll to Symptom History, search if needed, and tap a symptom tile to open its detail screen.
05
Life Factor History
Same layout for life factors—tap a tile to open that item's detail screen.
06
View All
When more than six items appear in a history card, tap View All to open the full list, then tap an item.

From Home — See all or an item card

01
See all
On Home, tap See all on a Symptoms or Life Factors row to open Reports history for that day, then tap an item to open its detail screen.
02
Item card
Tap a filled daily check-in card on Home to jump straight to that item's Reports detail screen with six cycles of history.

01
Detail screen
The detail screen opens with the item icon, name, history chart, phase breakdown, and Symptomatic Days above Relation Patterns.
02
Relation Patterns
Scroll past those sections to Relation Patterns. A short description line explains that scores combine frequency, statistical patterns, and lift versus chance.

Related Symptoms and Related Life Factors

  • Related Symptoms lists symptoms logged on the same day as the opened item or the day after.
  • Related Life Factors lists life factors logged on the same day or the day before.
  • Each row shows the item name, a pattern strength percentage, and a small strength bar—higher scores use stronger accent colors.
  • Tap any row to open Correlation Details for that pair.
  • If nothing qualifies, you see No correlations found. Log more data to see patterns.

Open Correlation Details

01
Correlation row
Tap a row in Related Symptoms or Related Life Factors. A large sheet opens with both item icons and the Correlation Details title.
02
Comparison chart
At the top, a chart plots both trackables across your selected cycle range with phase hints on the timeline.
03
Done
Tap Done in the sheet header when you are finished. The sheet closes and returns you to the detail screen.

At a Glance — key metrics

01
Pattern Strength
Overall relationship score combining frequency, correlation, and base-rate adjustment—shown as a percentage.
02
Co-occurrences
How many days both items appeared in the analysis window, with the percentage of days the main item was logged.
03
Lift Ratio
How many times more often the pair appears together than expected by chance alone.
04
Correlation
When enough paired data exists, a correlation coefficient appears with a strength label such as Strong or Moderate. It may be omitted when there are too few overlapping logged days.
05
Confidence
High, Medium, or Low based on how many co-occurrences support the pattern—more logged overlap means higher confidence.

Key Insights, calculation, and dates

  • Key Insights summarizes frequency, lift versus chance, and direction when a statistical correlation is available.
  • How We Calculate This explains the methods in plain language and shows formula lines for correlation and base-rate lift.
  • When They Occurred Together lists each contributing date with both items' logged values side by side in a scrollable table.
  • A footer note reminds you that correlation does not imply causation—the items may share triggers or contexts instead.

When lists are empty

  • Relation Patterns shows No correlations found. Log more data to see patterns when no item meets the minimum thresholds yet.
  • Keep logging symptoms and life factors across multiple cycles—the section refreshes when you change cycle range or add more days.
  • Pairs need enough co-occurrences and frequency before they appear—sparse logging on either item keeps the list empty.
Relation Patterns helps you spot co-occurrence trends worth discussing with a clinician. Scores estimate patterns in your own logs—they do not prove one trackable caused another or confirm a diagnosis.
  • Custom Analysis compares trackables you pick on shared timelines over a date window you choose—it does not include this Relation Patterns section.
  • For chart history, phases, and Symptomatic Days on the same detail screen, see the symptom and trackable item details help article.
