Use the Resources header search field on Education, Research, and Toolkit to find articles, papers, and toolkit links by keyword—not the App sub-tab help search. See the Resources tab overview if you have not opened Resources yet.

What the header search does

  • One search field sits in the Resources header on the right—next to the Resources title.
  • It appears on Education, Research, and Toolkit. It is hidden while the App sub-tab is selected.
  • The placeholder reads Search resources... on every sub-tab that shows it.
  • Typing filters the bundled catalog on your device—no search query is sent to Red Tent servers.

Open the search field

In the app

Open Red Tent PMDD to see the live screen walkthrough for this step.

Download the app
The preview shows the Resources header with the collapsed search icon on Education—the same header appears on Research and Toolkit. It does not show the expanded field or App help search.
01
Magnifying glass
In the Resources header, tap the magnifying glass on the right. The field expands so you can type.
02
Search resources...
Type one or more keywords. Results update as you type—there is no separate Search button.
03
Clear
When text is in the field, tap the X on the right inside the bar to clear your query.
04
Magnifying glass
Tap the magnifying glass again while expanded to collapse the bar and dismiss the keyboard.

What your keywords match

  • Item title—for example, an education article name or research paper title.
  • Item summary—the short description shown on cards and list rows.
  • Topic tags and search keywords bundled with each catalog item.
  • Category names on Education and Toolkit when the category label itself matches.
  • Not the full text inside an open education article—only catalog metadata fields.

Results on Education

01
Education
Select Education in the sub-tab row. The header search filters category sections and the large cards in each row.
02
Category section
A section stays visible when its name matches or at least one article in that section matches your query.
03
Large card
Within a visible section, only matching article cards appear in the horizontal row. Tap a card to open the article.
04
See all
See all still opens the full category feed. For browsing without search, see the Education articles help article.

Education search empty states are covered in the sections below. Opening articles, bookmarks, and See all lists are documented in the Education articles help article.

Results on Research

01
Research
Select Research in the sub-tab row. The same header field filters the flat research card list below the sort control.
02
Research card
Only papers whose catalog metadata matches your query remain in the list. Tap a card to open paper detail.
03
Sort by
Recommended, Latest, and Most Cited still appear above the list. Changing sort while a search is active re-filters the loaded set—see the Research papers help article for sort behavior.

Research uses a dedicated on-device paper search when the header field is not empty. Sort order, pull to refresh, and paper detail are covered in the Research papers help article—not here.

Results on Toolkit

  • Safety Plan hero and Interactive tools (Breathe and 5-4-3-2-1 grounding) always stay visible—they are not hidden by search.
  • Find Your People and Join study cards filter their item counts to matching toolkit directory entries.
  • Tap a card to open the category list; the list itself also respects the active search query.
  • For opening Breathe, Grounding, or Safety Plan, see the Toolkit overview and dedicated tool help articles.

Switching tabs while searching

Your search text stays in the header when you switch among Education, Research, and Toolkit—the same query re-filters whichever sub-tab you select. Clear the field when you want the full unfiltered catalog again.

Leaving Resources and returning later clears nested screens you had opened. Your search text may still be in the header if you did not clear it before you left.

Not the same as App help search

01
App
Select the App sub-tab. The header Search resources... field disappears on this sub-tab.
02
Search help articles
On the How can we help? landing, tap Search help articles below the hero title. That opens a separate help-only search screen.
03
All articles
Help search filters the in-app help catalog only—not education articles, research papers, or toolkit directory items.

For Popular questions, Browse by topic, and opening help guides, see the App resources help article.

When search returns nothing

  • No categories or items match your search. Try different words. — full-tab empty state on Education when every category is filtered out.
  • No items in this category — a single Education category section has no matching articles, but other sections may still show results.
  • No research articles available — Research list is empty for your query (same title copy as an empty research catalog).
  • Try shorter keywords, alternate spellings, or clear the field to browse the full catalog again.
Search runs entirely on the catalog built into your app. Bookmark and engagement data still follow the usual on-device and private iCloud rules described in sibling Resources help articles.
